I originally purchased this product at a Glock store and returned it twice, once because the screws were not attached and tightened properly, and twice because it was too short and would not release the magazine. This product is a bit more expensive than some, but it's worth it for the quality you get and the time and hassle you save by not having to return an item multiple times. This mag release is easy to install, looks good, high quality, I had a hard time getting a mag release on my gen 3, it didn't interfere with my holster and it worked the first time. Let me start by saying that this is an amazing Mac release; You can't miss this thing! I was initially concerned that its size would cause me to accidentally dabble in mag production. However, this scenario never materialized. It works with my Safariland holster 6365. I don't know what Hogwarts engineering magic ZT used to create such a great Mac output, but I appreciate it! Regrettable reason for the downgrade now. The button is held in place by a miniature screw. If something happens to this screw (eg, it snaps or disappears), the benefits of the increased output are lost. I'm a huge fan of redundancy when it's used effectively, so this is a point of failure. You can still operate the gun without the oversized thumb button, but it comes at the cost of less functionality. I am writing this from experience! Consider fitting another screw to the device or adding an accessory to the kit.

I am in the process of building a polymer 80 frame. I was surprised to find a Zev extended Mac edition at a price that fits my budget, and I'm glad I did. The overall design is perfect for me. The button is perfectly positioned above the release and the button felt great on my thumb, didn't slip and didn't feel bulky on my thumb.

When this one is finished and the bottoms are restored, I plan to do another one. I will add another Zev Mac edition to that build, maybe with a color change.

Just received my ZEV extended magazine for 1st-3rd GEN, SMALL, BLACK. It was very easy to install, and makes reloading easy. No problem carrying in my holster (extra cart). It will not release unless pressed even while driving. Thank you Jev.

I bought this for one of my carry pistols thinking it would be similar to the Gen 4 extended magazine I had. This road is too much for me and it is too far. I imagine it would be fine for a competition gun, but not practical for my EDC stuff.

Single shot magazines are more likely to lose control of the top case and cause it to pop out of place, especially in a blow gun. Glock magazines tend to be more susceptible to dirt, grime and fouling on top of the flag. Again, direct blow guns tend to be dirty and this can become a problem with inadequate maintenance.

Glock OEM magazines wisely use a metal liner, but most aftermarket magazines do not. This makes them more likely to break due to the strain on this distinct single point of entry. These non-Glock shields can break or bend, especially if used with a blowgun.

It's also worth noting that Glock flavors and many pistol flavors have large holes in the back. Okay, these are small holes, but they're worth mentioning because they allow the world to seep into your magazine.

SMG magazines use double feed and these magazines are designed specifically to work with a long gun. This means they are designed to work with long gun feed ramps, not gun feed ramps.

The double feed magazine has a few significant ergonomic advantages over the Glock magazine. A double feed tray may be slightly shorter than a double single feed tray. Double feed magazines are much easier to load to a capacity of 20 rounds or more. Getting the last 3 rounds in a 33 round Glock mag is no fun.

Outside of the magazine design, there are ergonomic differences that affect the firearm. Using a Glock mag or other handgun can make ergonomics difficult with some weapons. In particular, the magazine release and the lack of a bolt for the last round keep the device open. This happens mostly with AR-style handguns that use Glock or pistol mags. Weapons such as the Aero Precision EPC and the CMMG Banshee series are exceptions. Both have developed good opportunities using single feed magazines.

Special purpose SMG icons are often suited for weapons that have better ergonomics and are more natural. Guns like the Scorpion, MPX, and the like can offer ambidextrous controls to release magazines and change magazines on the gun.

In addition, the straight or curved design of SMG magazines often makes loading them easier and more intuitive. Glock mags have a weird rake to the rear and this seems less intuitive to me.

If you were to look at the military or police and use what they use, you will find that their SMGs use SMG magazines. This means double feed of magazines with few exceptions. I have yet to see any serious cops or military use single feed pistol flags outside of the Beretta CX4/MX4 series of guns.

Despite this, professional shooters around the world generally use Glock magazines in their PCCs. Often they are lengthened to crazy lengths to fit even more. Guns like the JP5 use Glock mags and provide a top-of-the-line rifle for PCC competitions.

At the end of the day, as an average Joe, I use my PCC more for fun than anything else. I don't care about Glock mags or single feed mags. One of my favorite guns in the Mk17 Banshee and it uses a SIG P320 magazine. If I were to rely on any home defense it would probably be a double pass.
